RECENT SPEAKERS:
October 21
Speaker was Larry Chewning who spoke about his book: “ Questionable Behaviors - Tales from the College Frat House”. The book consists of 34 short stories, many of which were “Animal House” types, some heart warming, and all of which he personally experienced. He was at Wake Forest 1971 to 1975. Some of the stories, many would be able to relate to. For sure, it brought back many memories to our own John Farrenkopf. Check out these two photos from 1969 and 1970 which John has shared.

With a crew like this, it is certain that John has an abundance of “Tales from the College Frat House” .

Constance Martin-Witter told us about Bluffton Community Kitchen. The effort to make sure that no one should go hungry in Bluffton started in 2011. It was born out of commuity need and was powered by local churches, volunteers & generosity. In Beaufort County and estimated 9.8% of the population (18,500 people) live below the poverty line. The mission of the organization is to be a service organization providing assistance and support to underserved families. Through comprehensive support programs, they strive to create lasting positive change and build a stronger healthier commuity for all. Christina Wilson, Executive Director, CAPA was our speaker. The Child Abuse Prevention Association exists to break the destructive cycle of child abuse and neglect by equipping parents, children and their caregivers with necessary skills, knowledgte and values.. How can Rotary help? : attend Ghost tours or dancing with our stars; make a financial gift or remember them in your estate planning; volunteer at the store, events or with the kids; donate items to their thrift store; tell others who they are; visit the group home; refer to speak to another group.
