Speaker was LaNelle Fabian, the Director of Community Engagement from Friends of Caroline Hospice.  She provided an over view of the organization and and update on Caroline's Cottage.
The mission of Friends of Caroline is it "provides quality-of-life care that offers hope and encouragement to those nearing the end of life's journey and support for their family, friends and the community". The organization has served the Lowcountry since 1977 and was the first non-profit hospice. They provide Palliative care, hospice care, grief support and Caroline's Cottage.  LaNelle gave several real-life examples of how their services have helped individuals.  Caroline's Cottage, the first inpatient hospice house in our area has been accepting patients for two years now.  It provides a calm and relaxing environment for patients that: do not have a caregiver; a loved one can no longer care for them; have symptoms that need to be treated in a facility; or where a short term stay is needed to provide respite for the caregiver.  Friends of Caroline raise funds through their Butterfly Release and Clay Shoot events.  To learn more visit fochospice.org
