Club Meeting 8/20/2024
Announcements:
Working on getting to do Round Up for Rotary at Piggly Wiggly on a regular basis - maybe once a month. Will be meeting with David Martin to discuss. Stay tuned to see volunteer opportunities to work this fundraiser.
Speaker -
Kaya Tolly, artist, was our speaker.
Kaya, a Hilton Head Island High School student, has been creating beautiful art from very early in life. She attended Art Summer camps at the Arts Center and displayed her artwork as early as second grade. Her Grandfather was an artist and inspired her. She knew very early that she wanted to go to SCAD. She has received recognition/awards for her work, including the Coastal Discovery Museum Directors Award and Scholastic Gold Key Award. She was chosen to do the mural for ACE Hardware's renovation program.
Kaya explained the process to create a mural as well as discussed the various mediums that she has used She is planning to go to college - hopefully SCAD or the College of Charleston. Her favorite medium is acrylic markers.
