VLR members volunteered to promote "Round Up for Rotary" on two Saturdays, August 10 and August 17, at Piggly Wiggly. They bagged and greeted customers, asking them to round up to the nearest dollar to benefit local children's charities.

We had a visit from Chris Crosby, one of our scholarship recipients. Chris updated us on what he has been doing. This past summer he completed an internship with a baseball team in Lexington SC. Chris' major is in "Sports Entertainment Management" and is attending USC. Great to have him visit. Best of luck in the new school year, Chris!

The mission of WACHH is "To educate, engage and inspire the community about world affairs". It has been around since 1981. It has a very diverse membership: Aged 20 - 103; 75% live in Hilton Head, 20% Bluffton, 5% outside SC, 3 outside the US; 53% men and 47% women; members have lived and worked in 60 countries and visited 125 countries. They offer 14 speakers a year. Average attendance at event is 452 at First Presbyterian Church. They engage: Fall Forum and Great Decisions is open to members only; Book Club, monthly book discussion on the second Thursday of the month is opent to non members as well. Membership cost is $160
