Our speaker was Libby O'Regan, the Founder of The Celebration Project. This organization provides Birthday Parties for deserving children. 85% of the children that they provide for never even had a birthday cake. They do two per month - each party costs $1250 for everything - gifts, refreshments, venue. There is no cost to attend. They are funded by private donations, apply for grants, but that is very competitive and business sponsorships. You can learn more about this amazing organization which brings joy to the children and their families and makes lifetime memories. To learn more - thecelebrationprojects.org

Mike Williamson provided a fascinating presentation about whales and research. The Right whales come here to breed. They swim close to shore and come here to calve. There were 11 calves this year - 19 or 20 last year. This area is important for calving. Google “whale map” whalemap.org
There has been a change in the feeding area because of warmer water temperatures. They have been going to the Gulf of St. Lawrance.
The calves stay with the mother for a year
