Sonny Huntley, co-president welcomed members and guests to the club meeting on March 19.
Visiting Rotarians were William Epps (member of the Bluffton club) and Ray Enstine.  Proposed new members Eric Smith, Lee Carulli, and Corey Smith were also in attendance and welcomed.

Rose Ewing from Hopeful Horizons was the speaker.  
Hopeful Horizons is a children's advocacy, domestic violence and rape crisis center.  They create safer communities by changing the culture of violence and offering a path to healing..  Their services are free.  To offer a solution, the problem must first be acknowledged.  Their mission is to "Protect, treat and prevent" . Their vision is to be "the Lowcountry leader in ending child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault" .  The staff is English and Spanish speaking and they have a translation service as well.  Counselors have a minimum of Masters degree, they have a full time attorney and paralegals. Services that are provided: 24/7 support hotline; shelter; Evidence-based therapy and supportive counseling; legal assistance and victim advocacy; case management; transitional housing; survivor support groups; outreach, awareness and community education; Hospital accompaniment; anonymous reporting assistance; child & family friendly facilities; forensic interviews; multidisciplinary team response in handling child abuse cases; evidence based mental health treatment; specialized medical evaluation and treatment; court preparation and expert witnesses.  Hopeful Horizons assisted more than 1200 victims of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault, conducted 404 forensic interviews and 88 forensic medicals, and provided 4,000 night of safe shelter for 152 women and teir children in 2023.
