Past President Tim Ridge began the meeting at 8:10. Kevin Courtney offered a blessing followed by the pledge of allegiance.
 
Sergeant-at-arms Chuck Wiseman introduced visiting Rotarians and guests and collected Happy Dollar$.

Membership Chair John Carroll reported that we have one prospective member in the pipeline and another soon to be announced.
 
Youth & Education Chair Ivan Bennett (below) was represented by Lou Benfante who announced that our Rotary Reader program is about to kick off. Members are encouraged to become a reader: there is a growing list of students eager to learn .
Ivan exchanges club banners with the president of the Salida, CO Rotary Club.

The Boys & Girls Club will host a Trick or Treat event at their club on October 21 from 4:00 til 5:30.
 
The social committee invites you to enjoy pizza and suds at Giuseppe's on October 19 from 5:30 til 7:30. Raffle prizes will be awarded at the event.
 
Member (and ADG) Nancy Riedel presented the district foundation award for outstanding giving to past president Tim Ridge who was filling in for Ben Shelton. VanLandingham Rotary was recognized for contributing over $200 per capita to the foundation.
 
Chuck Wiseman introduced today's speaker, Janice Gray, representing the Arts League of Hilton Head Island.
 
A graduate of Auburn University, Janice Gray moved to Hilton Head Island in 1980 to work for a local CPA firm. She was asked by her boss to assist him as treasurer at Evening of the Arts and has been active in the Art League ever since. She is currently the board chair. The Art League of Hilton Head Island promotes and supports the visual arts through education, exhibitions and partnerships for the cultural enrichment of Hilton Head Island and its visitors.

Following the presentation Bingo was awarded and the meeting adjourned at 8:55.
